There’s honestly not a lot to tell. We’re a father and son team from Australia trying to learn about the world of Minecraft together and finding it much harder than we hoped. We’ve watched 100’s of hours of Youtube videos that assume you’re already an expert or miss out key details. We’ve bought and borrowed Minecraft books that try to reduce a build from 37 easy to follow steps down to 10 impossible to follow steps for the sake of page layouts. We’ve read through the community wikis full of facts and figures but very little practical advice. All of this has been very frustrating for both of us and made something that’s supposed to be fun feel like a real drag at times.
We started Minecraft Mechanik with the goal of helping ourselves and others to easily understand core game mechanics and how to solve common problems. As an example, lots of things that young, new Minecrafters want to do involve mechanisms using pistons and redstone components that typically require a pretty advanced understanding of the game. We hope we can lower the barrier to entry on these types of things with our Common Components series. We also want to find and fix broken, incomplete or fake tutorials where ever we can in our Tutorial Tune-Up series.
If you have a problem you can’t solve or have spotted a tutorial that just won’t work, please reach out to us and we’ll do our best to help you work it out. We might not know the answer either but we’ll work with you until we both know how it goes together.
